How Our Tanks Are Manufactured

Every tank is made in Australia using rotational moulding – the industry standard for polyethylene water tanks.

1

Raw Material

Food-grade, UV-stabilised polyethylene powder sourced from Australian production facilities. Won’t rust, won’t corrode, safe for drinking water.

2

Moulding

Powder is loaded into a precision aluminium mould, sealed, and placed in a gas-fired oven. The mould rotates on two axes, coating the interior evenly for consistent wall thickness.

3

Heating

30-40 minutes under computer-controlled temperatures. Precise heating is what separates a quality tank from a cheap one.

4

Cooling & Finishing

20-25 minute controlled cool-down locks in structural integrity. Fittings are installed once the tank is released from the mould.

The result: A seamless, single-piece tank with no joins, no welds, and no seams. Brand new, never recycled, backed by a manufacturer’s warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many tanks can I connect together?

There is no limit. Every tank comes with joining fittings, so you can connect two, five, or ten in a row. The only constraint is your available space. Connected tanks equalise automatically, so water distributes between them as one system.

Do I need council approval to install a rainwater tank in NSW?

In most cases, no. Rainwater tanks under 10,000 litres installed at ground level on a residential property in NSW are generally classified as exempt development, meaning no approval is needed. Setback and height rules can vary between councils, so check with your local council if you’re unsure.

Can I use the water for drinking?

Yes. The tanks are made from food-grade polyethylene, so they are suitable for potable water storage. For drinking water, we recommend fitting a first-flush diverter and a filtration system to your setup to ensure water quality.

What base do I need to install the tank on?

A flat, stable, level base. A concrete slab is ideal, but compacted crushed rock or pavers on a solid footing will also work. The tank must be supported evenly across its full base. Never place a water tank on uneven or soft ground.

Are these tanks BASIX compliant?

Rainwater tanks can contribute to your BASIX water target for new builds and major renovations in NSW. The number of tanks you need depends on your specific target and how you plumb the water into the house – toilets, laundry, irrigation. Your builder or certifier can confirm the exact requirement for your project.

Will it fit down the side of my house?

Yes. At only 700mm in diameter and 2 metres tall, these tanks are specifically designed for narrow side passages, courtyards, and tight spaces between buildings and fences. If you have 900mm or more of clearance, the tank will fit with room to spare.

Can I paint the tank or change the colour after purchase?

We don’t recommend it. The colour is integrated through the full thickness of the polyethylene during manufacturing, so it won’t fade or peel. Painting over the surface can interfere with the UV stabilisation. Choose from Smooth Cream, Charcoal Grey, Birch Grey, or White at the time of purchase.

Can I use these tanks for greywater or wastewater?

No. These tanks are designed and rated for rainwater storage only. They are not suitable for greywater, wastewater, or chemical storage.

What’s included with each tank?

Every tank is brand new and comes with a manufacturer’s warranty and all joining fittings for modular connection. Nothing extra to buy.
